The Edo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education, as cited by Law, was established on the 22nd day of December 2003 as a parastatal under the Ministry of Education which exercises supervisory control over it.

The Edo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education (BTVE) is pleased to announce the commencement of a recruitment exercise for qualified, competent, and passionate individuals to fill teaching positions across its Technical Colleges.
In line with the mandate of the Governor of Edo State to reposition and strengthen technical education, this recruitment drive seeks to engage professionals who not only possess the required academic qualifications but also demonstrate strong technical skills and practical, hands-on experience in their respective trades.

Edo state currently has five (5) Technical colleges that offer 3 years secondary education on the various courses; Welding and Fabrication, Mechanical Engineering Craft, Carpentry and Joinery, Catering Craft Practice, Electrical Installation and Maintenance Works, Computer Craft Practice, Block Laying, Brick Laying, Concreting, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Fisheries Craft and Agricultural Implement.
These programmes are designed to combine on-the-job training, mentorship, practical work experience and theoretical learning which provides certification upon completion. This is achieved in collaboration with formalized private Companies.
Designed programmes such as carpentry, tailoring, blacksmithing, hair dressing, automobile repair, bead and soap making etc. These programmes often takes place within small workshops or businesses where experienced artisans pass down their knowledge and expertise to apprentices. This is achieved in collaboration with Master Craft Persons.
Short Programmes including Information Technology (IT), Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), Healthcare (Nursing, Medical Technology), Business Administration, Marketing and Sales, Finance and Accounting, Human Resources, Hospitality and Tourism, Education and Teaching, Agriculture and Environmental Science.
